My Four Things

I’ve been tagged by fellow-blogger Joel Garver to produce lists of four for the categories below. Narrowing down to four is actually more of a challenge than the typical “top ten” list, but here goes:

Four jobs I’ve had (I’m exlcuding my present: bookstore clerk)

    Christian school administrator
    Sixth grade teacher
Schwan’s Driver (home delivery of frozen food and ice cream)
Shipping and receiving in a factory

Four movies I could watch over and over

Monty Python and The Holy Grail
    Chariots of Fire
    What About Bob?
    White Christmas

Four books I could read over and over I’m going to “cheat” and list “other than the Bible” here

    Moby Dick (Herman Melville)
The Lord of the Rings (J. R. R. Tolkien)
    Into Thin Air (John Krakauer)
    Knowing God (J. I. Packer)

Four places I have lived

    Cedar Grove, NJ
    Molokai’i, Hawai’i
    Charlottesville, VA
Szeged, Hungary (OK, I was there for a month, but I felt like I’d lived there!)

Four TV shows I watch

    LOST
Gilmore Girls (OK, it’s girly…but it’s so smart!)
    Simpsons
Northern Exposure (on DVD and VHS)

Four places I have been on vacation

    Adirondack Mountains of NY
    Colorado Springs, CO
Bahamas (two week-long sailing trips with high school students)
    Israel/Greece/Jordan

Four websites I visit daily other than email…

Four favorite foods

    My wife’s incredible fish stew
Philly cheesesteaks (be true to your school!)
Angel hair pasta with sausage sauce
    Bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich

Four places I’d like to be right now

    Adirondacks
Old Camp, Wilson Pond, Greenville, ME
    The highlands of Scotland
    Alaska

Four bloggers I’m tagging Hmmm…tough to find four I know who haven’t been tagged with this already. I’m tagging…

Knowing your affinity for the comfort of a warm abode, I don’t think you would want to be at Old Camp in January! You might as well be at winter snow camp in less than a tent. But if you did go, I’d be right there with you (we can ski out to the island).

Well…there’s a fireplace there…and I can think of other ways to keep warm!

Hey _steve…let’s break the Internet rules and make you my fifth tag! (Who enforced these Internet rules anyway? Is it the same deity that brings you bad luck if you don’t forward the pictures of cute kittens to your fifteen closest friends?)

  5. _steve Says:

Oh I see how it is…completely ignore me, and then try to throw me some cheapass last minute recognition to make up for it?!?!?

If you think that’ll work on someone like me, well you’re damn right. WOOHOO!!! RECOGNITION!!!

I’m almost insulted that you don’t visit my fansite daily, which, by the way, has a new format.

    Sam,

There was no category for Four Sites You Visit Hourly.

So let’s all head on over to D Y O B M A S (its Sam Boyd spelled backward, get it? Isn’t that just the cleverest?>

I think it needs a .wav file of trumpets blaring, like when a king enters the room.

  14. the Foolish Sage Says:

Oh…and revolving crosses. I forgot the revolving crosses.

As long as they’re butt-trumpets, like in Monty Python and the Holy Grail’s, animated segues.

[This has been your obligatory MP&tHG reference of the day. We will now return you to your regularly scheduled programming, already in progress.]
