    Oh, I love Lamott! When i'm reading her stuff, I grab Mel every two pages and say, “Let me read this to you. It's so well written!”

    She will make you roar with laughter and then burst into tears on the same page.

    If I ever got a chance to talk to her, I would ask her how she is able to write so personally and intimately about people and situations so close to her (her son, her closest friends, her church, etc.). I would love to be able to write that way, but I'm afraid I would mortify and alienate everyone I hold dear!
