I think we may have to call the contest over. No way Mike could ever match actually having a professor named Assman.

Of course, Mike has referred to a couple of professors with that moniker.

I do have a cowboy hat- Resistol (made in my birth state of TX), and am currently wearing shark-skin boots (Lucchese boots to be exact, same kind that John Wayne and Gary Cooper used to wear) whilst pointing Old Aramaic inscriptions and taking a course on Mosaic cultural memory from Jan Assmann (yes, that's his name).

However, in all these things I'm afraid my awesomeness has been trumped, since I could never be cooler than a blond haired 6 foot something stud. I gladly give over the crown to Dr. Blonde A-Go-Go (also sometimes known as Dr. Van Stinkle-Foot, some of the various names by which Mike is known) on the condition that he grow a mullet.

Mark- you HAVE to announce these things earlier. I totally wasn't prepared, and to have one's awesomeness eclipsed for a day and not know it is traumatic.

At any rate, I'm glad to have someone with whom I can be more awesome than Pete. Happy birthday, bro!

Found out this morning that MPVG has cut his hair. This has caused the coolness panel to go into emergency session. Paula thinks he still has "got it," but Simon has his doubts. It may once again all come down to poor David.

For the record, there is an imposter "Michael" in our midst; accept no imitations. There can be only one President Cooler-Than-Sam and I am he...look-it, I've gone continental, there is no stopping the Evangelist now! And I feel the conversation has sidetracked: must I remind you all that I have a cowboy hat?? Sam can't contend with that...although I think he has cowboy boots. DANG IT!

I'd like to point out that if Mr Boyd goes clubbing at 6pm, he's not cool AT ALL! Are there any clubs even open at 6pm? I don't think so!

Mark:
I feel a song coming on. Green and McCartney doing the duet "You say vicegerent. I say viceregent ..."
Anyway, from the Macquarie Dictionary (the definitive word on Australian English):
Vicegerent: "an officer deputed by a ruler or supreme head to exercise the powers of the ruler or head."
Viceregent (or vice-regent): "a deputy regent, one who acts in the place of a ruler, governor, or sovereign."
Different roots, same basic idea. Go figure (as they say in America).
