MilePosts 10

dscf0010.jpgMy every-so-often accumulation of “stuff” I find on the web:

  • When someone can recite Scripture like this, who needs a sermon? I would pay admission money just to hear this guy do the whole book of Hebrews. (Reposting this one because it was so good!)
  • For all you legions of Sam Boyd fans, introducing Sam Boyd Trivia!
  • Paul Tripp is now a blogger! Wish I’d known earlier. He’s currently doing a series on Psalm 51, with many of the posts written as original poetry inspire by the Psalm.
  • Sufjan Stevens warns about the possible unintended consequences of indulging in friend rock. I appreciate this, as I have suffered from the syndrome (search for any comments referencing Jeremy Casella on this blog for evidence…and get me help, soon).
  • RockTV asks the question: can Christian radio ever be too happy?

It still makes me sad that Ferguson left Scotland. I guess I did too, so I can’t judge too harshly!

  3. Michaela Says:

    Oh wait.

    I didn’t follow the link!

    AHahahahahaaaa!!!!

    (That’ll teach me!)

Well my comment about SINCLAIR still remains. And I still love hearing him talk!

I will never ever forget the first time I heard Sinclair Ferguson’s voice. I was driving somewhere and had a CD of a sermon of his someone had given me. I put the CD in, and for some reason it skipped to somewhere in the middle of the message. The first words of Ferguson I ever heard, delivered in that ground-rumbling Scottish brogue, were:

“The Holy Spirrrrit knows the most wee sins of yourrr hearrrrt!!!”

I pulled over to the side of the road and repented of seventeen things I hadn’t even done.

    AHAHAhahahahahaa!

Your laughter brings shame upon me.

    Shame results from sin.

Now I have eighteen things to repent of.

    mark!
thanks for putting the link to sufjan’s page. i had no idea he was so young! i knew he was pretty young, but good grief! and he writes his posts just like he sings. i guess both reflect how he thinks. that sounds odd, but it makes sense; i guess i tend to assume that people’s music is a contrived persona that they put on for performances and recordings…but this doesn’t seem to be so with Sufjan. at least not with what i have read on/by him so far. i’ll let you know how things go.
and i’m on lala.com now, but i forgot to tell you so you don’t get a t-shirt :( sorry about that! the only problem i’m having is not having many “old” cds with me at school to trade! alas and alack!

  8. Mark Traphagen Says:

Whatever will I do with one less t-shirt in my drawer??

Glad you enjoyed the post, Rebecca.
