Divine Providence as the Poetry of God

Alastair of the Adversaria Blog returns from his blog fast with a provocative essay entitled “How Can the Doctrine of Providence Be Used Today? A Redemptive Historical and Synergistic Doctrine of Providence.” Even after 2-1/2 years of seminary I’m not enough of a philosopher-theologian to untangle all the implications of what he is proposing, but it strikes me at first glance as a more realistic, livable, and above all biblical approach to divine providence, theodicy, and the notion of human “free will” than many traditional systematic-theological approaches that seem to me to start with certain philosophical presuppositions about what God must be before they approach the biblical text.
