From Those Who Will Be Left Behind: Children and the Death of a Father
Anyone at Westminster Seminary in Philadelphia will tell you it has been a tough year in a number of different ways. Among the various trials has been the persistent intrusion of matters of life and death. Probably chief among those intrusions in most of our minds has been the news that Alan Groves, beloved Old Testament professor and more recently Dean of Faculty, has terminal cancer.
Even if you have no connection to Westminster and have never known Al, the blog he and his wife have been keeping (algroves.info) for the last several months is well worth reading as the amazingly candid testimony of a Christian couple facing the inevitability of the death of one of them. There is more than a couple involved though; there is a family. Recently, the two youngest members of that family, both teenage children of Al and Libbie, wrote on the blog for the first time. I urge you to read them. Al and Libbie have so obviously sown well to their children, with fruit that is now ripe for this woeful harvest.
