On July 11 former Caedmon’s Call front man Derek Webb announced that his latest album, Mockingbird, will be made available as a free download at www.freederkewebb.com. The free download of the entire album in mp3 format will begin September 1, 2006 and continue for three months.

On his main site (www.derekwebb.com), Webb said that he was doing this because the purpose of Mockingbird was to get a conversation going about how Christians relate to issues such as war and social justice. The free, sharable download will, he hopes, greatly expand that conversation.
