Justification and Bird Shooting
My friend Mark Robinson has a creative and insightul post over on Reformed Blacks of America about how easily we can miss the forest for the trees (or in his metaphor, the birds on the branch) when bringing our ethereal systematic presuppositions about the meaning of Bible words such as “justification” to a particular text. Doing so, he says, leads to false dichtomies like “soteriology” vs. “ecclesiology.”
