There Goes the Neighborhood

Wednesday, February 22nd, 2006

Congratulations to Sacred Journey regular Daniel Kirk, who will be Biblical Seminary’s new professor of New Testament. Biblical is located in Hatboro, right up the road from us, so I’m sure we’ll soon be having some theological roundtables together (i.e., tipping some lagers at Union Jacks).

Separated at Birth II

Saturday, February 18th, 2006

Another Westminster Theological Seminary inside joke post…
Once again, the uncanny similarity is more in the voice than the appearance. If you’ve ever heard this WTS visiting professor teach, you must have thought this sooner or later:

HT to John Eddy for the original realization!

Separated at Birth?

Saturday, February 18th, 2006

As long as I’m allowing myself to be distracted by Purgatorio, I couldn’t pass up showing you his “separated at birth” side-by-side of Scot McKnight (of Jesus Creed blog) and Wallace Shawn (Vizzini in The Princess Bride).

But anyone at Westminster could tell you that in an audio comparison, you’d end up with these [...]

Ho Brah! Dis Haole Know Da Kine!

Friday, February 17th, 2006

Many of you probably don’t know that the Traphagens lived for a full year on the Hawai’ian island of Molokai’i. Some day I’ll have to “talk story” about those days. Our time there came to mind when my daughter Hannah sent me the list below which she received from one of her old classmates from [...]

The Sovereignty of God Is the Hope of the World

Friday, February 17th, 2006

My friend and classmate Jason has a great thought about how we miss something truly awesome when we only argue for God’s sovereignty on the basis of Romans 9 (God’s activity in individual salvation). He urges us to turn back a page in our Bibles to contemplate the implications of God’s sovereignty in Romans 8. [...]

Homebrewed Hebrew

Thursday, February 16th, 2006

No, that’s not a new micro-brewery beer. This is a heads up to all our fellow Westminster Hebrew students about my wife Karyn’s posting of her amazing Hebrew weak verb flowchart as a downloadable PDF, along with pre-formated booklets of all the assigned translation text for our OTHT II and Acts & Paul classes. You [...]

LOST Clock Hieroglyhps

Thursday, February 16th, 2006

If you’re not into LOST, just pass on by.
All speculation will now, of course, focus on the hieroglyphs briefly seen when the timer went down to zero. Someone who seems to know their Egyptian posted this on a LOST forum:
Hi all,
I work in the Egyptology department at the University of Canbridge.
There’s three things that I [...]
