Tim Keller in NY Times
Former Westminster Theological Seminary Professor Tim Keller, now pastor of church-planting mecca Redeemer Presbyterian in NYC, is featured in a New York Times article. I can’t remember the last time I saw such a positive write-up of an evangelical in the secular press.

The last time there was such a positive write-up was the last time the Times wrote about Redeemer and Pastor Keller. It was within the last ten years I think and the article was written by Gustav Niebuhr, who was a religion reporter for the Times. He is now a professor of religion and media in the Department of Religion at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. I was extremely surprised then, and am still surprised now. But then, “if you can make it there, you can make it anywhere.”
My brother attended Redeemer while he lived in New York, and I know a few others who have as well. I am a PCA member in Grand Rapids, Michigan

and to head off any negative criticism about the article, Tim’s son John has commented on the article’s publication (taken from here)
“Redeemer does not aspire to fame. In fact, Redeemer did not want the article done but the journalist was going to do it whether or not Redeemer helped him to write it. And what better way to make sure there are less errors in reporting than to participate? So there it is in the Times. Hopefully it does not have an harmful repercussions. Redeemer is happy to fly under the radar of the majority.”
