For those of you who still doubt…
World Magazine has given its evangelical imprimatur to Bill Mallonee’s “Dear Life” CD.
C’mon, you have to buy it now. I mean, World Magazine. That’s like the Pope canonized it or something.

Thanks for that link, Christiana. It has no date, but obviously goes back a number of years, as it has Bill stil with Vigilantes of Love and mentions “Slow Dark Train” as the latest album.
It does do a good job of bringing out Bill’s literary allusions. Someone on his list-serve recently catalogued over 40 different references to novels or works of art in his songs.

i’ve seen bill five or six times, and each time is a treat. i haven’t really paid attention to the solo stuff. his first attempt was just okay, but his recent stuff has gotten better apparently.

Thanks for visiting, Myles.
The first couple of solo albums were thrown together kind of quickly from available material. I still think there are some stirling songs on them. But Dear Life is a true album, one you can listen to straight through and go along with Bill on a journey through his heart and mind.

OH - I think I just figured out who Bill Mahoney is. I’m really a dork about music (other than U2) ever since I kinda got out of that stuff. But I remember that my friend Trev’s band opened for him once a couple years ago. Thanks for giving me this fleeting shot at hipdom. I’m going to enjoy it for a few minutes.

SO Sage, by doing that preview thing, do you stop all the idiot spammers from even visiting your site? My site filters out for various words, but I’m getting about 40-50 “Please Approve” e-mails per day, and it’s rendered my stats meaningless. DO they go away with the preview option?
December 4th, 2004 at 5:39 pm
Pat - I still get the same level of “please approve” messages that you do. The preview plugin is just another level of security to keep out messages that might get past the filters. Most of the auto-spam programs don’t have the capacity to sense and hit a second button to post a comment (but give them another month, and they probably will!) So any that are being blocked by my preview, if any, I never know about.
