I’m on the floor, laughing! That’s one scary looking sword! And tell Mom that Seámus still has an elf ear.

Read: Mark is sleeping on the couch for a month.

What’s the caption say? I don’t speak Dork.

Anyone know what size sheets fit on your average living room couch?

The elvish? I just cut and pasted from some geeky LOTR site. It’s all stuff Liv Tyler said in the movies. I think the first one is when she called down the waters on the Black Riders and the second is some mushy love stuff she whispered in Aragorn’s ear, loosely translated: “I’ll give up my immortality, but you must promise me a split-level in the ‘burbs and an SUV.”

    Two months… minimum.

This is the first time the picture showed up for me. Now I get the post! I was looking forward to seeing a picture of Cate Blanchette, but this is even better.

Well, Pat….since my wife was none too happy about me posting this picture here, perhaps she’ll at least be pleased she beat out Cate Blanchette!

I’m trying to think of a response that won’t get us both in trouble, and I’m just not coming up with one… I hope to meet you and your wife someday when I’m traveling out your way, so I best not make snotty comments about how it looks like she has both the ability, and the intention, of using that sword…that sort of thing…

It’s a great picture, though, and I love the sword. I’m sure there’s a cool story behind it.

  9. Karyn Says:

I’ll take that as a compliment. And I do hope we get to meet sometime.

The story behind the sword….by request.

The picture was taken at a recent reunion with friends from our old church in Charlottesville. The sword in question had been given as a gift by the woman in the background of the picture to her husband. When they mentioned that they had it in the trunk of their car, my #1 LOTR FANatic had to try it out. Thankfully, my friend Jim had just purchased a camera-phone.
