A Quick Note

Monday, August 30th, 2004

You won’t see much posted from me this week for two reasons…
A) I have my final exam in Greek semester 1 this week, then orientation and various class socials, and
B) I left my laptop in Maine…so no Internet at home until Karyn comes home the end of the week. Probably God’s way of helping me [...]

Heading Down East

Thursday, August 26th, 2004

Sorry there hasn’t been much posting this week….last week of summer Greek before the final exam (next Tuesday).
I’m off to Maine this afternoon, along with my oldest daughter Sarah, to see Sage IV (Seamus).
I’ve got an amazing story about how God just gave me a reunion with the guy who unknowingly led me to [...]

Men and their guitars

Saturday, August 21st, 2004

I have never seen a piece of writing anywhere that “gets it” about men who love guitars as much as Guitar Heaven by Hank Stuever does. This piece made me cry…and it made me get out my guitar.
And the guy who wrote it can’t play anything more than an A chord.

All things to all men

Friday, August 20th, 2004

Durning lunch today I listened to a lecture entitled What is the Real Emerging Church? by theologian D. A. Carson. (Thanks to this post on Adam Ochuk’s blog for pointing me to this resource.)
While the series of lectures is largely a critical look at the so-called emerging church movement, Carson concludes this first talk [...]

As a follow up to yesterday’s review of Bill Mallonee’s latest solo release, I’m passing along something Bill wrote to his email list recipients yesterday. For some context, it was written in response to a heated debate among several list members over one member’s expressed desire that ailing singer/songwriter Dan Fogelberg come to Christ through [...]

Bill Mallonee’s Dear Life: A Review

Thursday, August 19th, 2004

Saw this review on NetRhythms:
Georgia’s Bill Mallonee appears to have more than his home state on his mind with the release of Dear Life. Never one to make his listeners feel completely at ease, he has produced an album that delights, perplexes and disturbs in equal measure.
It may be that all roads and experiences have [...]

Study: Unpatched PCs compromised in 20 minutes - News - ZDNet
According to this study, anyone plugging a new Windows XP computer into the Internet can expect the system to be compromised by malware (malicious software downloaded to a user’s computer without his/her knowledge) within the first 20 minutes.

Thanks to “You know who you are”

Thursday, August 19th, 2004

I won’t embarass them by name here, but this is my public thanks to three friends from rmfo.net who are making a dream come true for me. They bought me a ticket to go with them to the Sweet Harmony Revue next Tuesday! And from where I sit as I write this I could [...]
